"Bed of Nettles Prints" by Peter Bash

On 14/5/09 I am hanging my new collection of photographic prints for 2009 at "Roy Boys" cafe 37 Station Road, Sheringham, where I have a permanent exhibition of constantly changing affordable pictures. There are all manner of places and subjects taken in Norfolk, and around the country, which make wonderful gifts or a memento of a lovely holiday.

10% of all sales from this years collection of prints will be donated to Sheringham R.N.L.I. Lifeboat Station.

Staged in "Roy Boys" it offers customers the opportunity to ponder the pictures whilst enjoying some refreshments in a bright, clean, family friendly setting where there is always a welcome from Roy the chef and his staff.

Warm Norfolk weather brings early bumper crop

Norfolk farmer Roger Crane who has grown asparagus on the family farm since 1997 at Marsham north of Norwich, is reporting an excellent and early crop thanks to the unseasonal warm weather.

“It’s arrived a whole week earlier than usual” says Roger “so it’s a very encouraging start to the season. At the moment we’re picking a very tasty variety called Gijnlim an F1 hybrid; later we’ll be picking Backlim, a Dutch variety.”

Roger makes his own compost using organic waste from our brown wheelie bins; he believes this makes a huge difference to the taste and quality of the crop, which is only picked from spring until 21st June each year.

Readers Letter

The Editor,
There are around 200 local groups of National Trust members across England, Wales and Northern Ireland known as associations, centres or clubs.

Run by members for members, associations are independent of the National Trust but affiliated to the charity and governed by a common constitution. Associations promote and support the National Trust and make membership more enjoyable by organising a year-round programme for its members of talks, excursions, holidays and social events.

In 2007 the Associations raised over £850,000 for the National Trust. Since the first group was founded in Manchester in 1948, associations have raised more than £18 million to support the work of the National Trust.

I am the Membership Secretary of the North Norfolk Association of the National Trust. We run full programme during the year and the annual membership subscription is very modest at Single £5, Couple £7 and Family £9. If anyone wants to get more out of their National Trust membership please contact me by letter, e-mail or telephone.

Yours faithfully, Joseph P. Floyd.
