Cats ProtectionWe are always delighted when our longer term residents finds a new home and we were
pleased when Dexie the lovely stray girl from Melton Park left us. Her new family
have advised us that she has settled in very well and loves to play. Chester, a lovely cat
abandoned when his family moved, who he required an operation for a large hernia on his
side, has also found a loving new family where we know he will be thoroughly spoilt by his
new young owner. Pippi and Jess two of the cats mentioned last time have also been
re-homed. The other three cats are still with us at the time of writing this article. We
have lots more lovely cats in our care, all waiting for someone to offer them a loving,
caring new home. PHOTOS TO FOLLOW |
Kelling Probus Club - Monthly Luncheon Meeting - Thursday 18th June '09This is the time of year when many members take holidays, just before the schools break up, so today we had a very select bunch of twenty five members plus one guest, Mr Terry Mobbs, whose home is in High Kelling, so he didn't have far to travel to The Pheasant Hotel. After a luncheon of Chicken Chasseur followed by tasty Lemon Meringue Pie, Mr Eric Marshall, our Deputy Chairman who was chairing today's meeting introduced Member Mr Vic Allen who gave his very amusing talk on " A Little More on the Same" He gave amusing little anecdotes about rubbing shoulders albeit briefly with such personalities as, Christine Norden, Diana Dors, Michael Parkinson (on three occasions!) and Tony Hart, also Arthur Lowe (Captain Mainwaring) and colleague actors from Dad's Army who were filming in Surrey at that time.
Peter Wigley, who was to give a vote of thanks, had been prepared for a long talk from Vic. He revealed his little story about a Vicar whose sermon went on and on for forty minutes and when he enquired from members of the congregation afterwards how his talk went he got a reply "Like milk you could have condensed it or even evaporated it" but that little story was not needed for Vic today for his talk received a good round of applause. Members were looking forward to their two forthcoming outings . Firstly in July to England's First Malt Whisky Distillery "St Georges" nearThetford and then a pub lunch to be followed in the afternoon with a tour of the lovely Wyken Gardens. In August members have the chance to travel by coach to Norwich for an Historical Saxon Stroll around parts of the City with Barbara Miller. Our next luncheon meeting (which is always held at The Pheasant Hotel in Kelling from 12:30 for 1:00 on the third Thursday of each month) will be on Thursday 16th July when our Speaker will be member Mr Sam Knowles talking about "Banking Matters" or similar. We are a very friendly group of Senior Citizens so if you would like to come to one of
our luncheons or want to know more about what we get up to then do give Mr Terry Penrose,
our humourous Secretary, a ring on 01263 588772. |
