100 YEARS OLD MUSTARD WAGON RESTORED BY DISABLED TEAM
A covered railway wagon built over 100 years ago to transport Colman's
Mustard from Norwich to all parts of the country is coming back to the Poppy Line on
Monday 20th July.
The wagon has been painstakingly refurbished by a team of around fifteen disabled members
of the Lowestoft studio of SOLD (Special Objectives for the Local Disabled).
It is restored in Colman's vivid mustard yellow livery, with the famous bull's head motif
that was one of the earliest advertising logos.
Steve James of SOLD said: "This has been a terrific project for our guys, and we're
all delighted with the result. I'd like to thank the North Norfolk Railway for giving us
the chance to display our very varied skills."
The wagon is expected to arrive at the Poppy Line's Holt Station (NR25 6DX) at around
midday on 20th July. It will initially be displayed on the sidings outside the William
Marriott Museum at the station, but may also form part of a special demonstration branch
line goods train. |
