Cats Protection

Marley and Sophie have now left us but Ming, the last of the five cats mentioned previously, is still with us. Although several other cats have recently left for new homes, we have other cats and kittens, still waiting for suitable to be chosen.

They include Floosie and Pippa, two lovely tortie girls who both came into care with their kittens. Floosie did leave us for a short time, but unfortunately, her new home was not suitable.

Cats Protection

Stephanie recently had a call from someone who had trapped what they believed was a stray cat. The lady concerned had already been in contact with her about this cat and mentioned it had a red collar.

When Stephanie went to check that the cat had not been micro chipped she found he was wearing a blue collar and in very good condition. This lovely ginger cat was not very old and was happy to have its head rubbed through the side of the trap. Although the cat had not been neutered it was obvious that it was someone's beloved pet. The cat was therefore released and Stephanie advised the lady with the trap not to feed it as this would discourage it from going home.

When seen again by another person the next week, the cat was wearing a black collar, a clear indication that it did have a home. This person was ready to offer this lovely cat a new home but was also advised one was not required as the cat already had a home. It was also pointed out that the cat had now been seen with three different collars and that she too should not encourage it.

If it was your cat, how would you feel if you learnt that someone was feeding it and looking to offer it a new home? Ideally, it would be better it the cat was neutered as this would discourage it from travelling to find female cats.

Norfolk Woman Creates Unique Knitting Yarn

A designer from Welney in West Norfolk has developed a unique knitting yarn from indigo dyed cotton, which looks just like denim. The yarn, which is believed to be unique in the UK, is the latest development from Fiona Henderson , who started her business “High Fibre” just over a year ago after moving to her new studio in the Fens.

Norfolk Woman Creates Unique Knitting Yarn

“ I’ve always had a hands on approach to knitwear design and lots of experimenting have led to the creation of my unique chunky knitted yarns where the textured or coloured effects are knitted in rather than dyed or applied”
Using natural fibres in beautiful colours the yarns are knitted by machine and hand finished and sold as yarns, or knitted up by Fiona into distinctive garments, textile pieces or accessories

“The new denim yarn is really exciting it even fades as it goes through the normal washing process. giving a lovely distressed look.” she says
