NEW SPECIAL EVENT ON THE POPPY LINE

Saturday/Sunday October 3 and 4.

The North Norfolk Railway's Poppy Line is hosting an additional special event this autumn - a Diesel and Steam Gala over the weekend of October 3 and 4. Guest engines will be a powerful British Railways Sulzer-engined diesel number 24 081 and the Great Western Railway's City of Truro - the first steam engine in the world to haul a train at over 100mph. The wooden bodied London ciommuter train of the 1920s is expected to be in service.

Normal fares will apply all weekend. Photographers should call 01263 820 800 for lineside passes before the end of September.

SANTA SIGNS UP FOR WEYBOURNE GROTTO

Reports from the Lapland Embassy confirm that Santa has made arrangements to have his UK Enchanted Grotto at Weybourne Station on the North Norfolk Railway.   This follows a highly successful season at the station last year.

The Poppy Line has arranged a timetable of special steam trains from Sheringham Station direct to the Grotto at Weybourne.  Trevor Eady, general manager of the Poppy Line, says: "We're delighted that Santa has once again chosen the Railway for his Grotto. We expect demands for the special trains to be high, and advance booking is essential."
