Hear SayHearsay

Hello and good morrow to all and everyone in this glorious start to the new school term. And for once the weather has no reason to improve as soon as the little darlings resume their schooling. What a summer it has been, one of the best for many a year me thinks. The usual gloomy faces of a waterlogged Grockle were about as rare as a pair of shorts in the clothes shops as I write.

Yes the winter collections are in almost before the temperatures start to soar including mine, as I need a pair for my late summer hols! Never mind, me thinks it lucky that underpants are not in short supply or else I may have to go commando! And the thought of any of my credentials accidentally airing in public is not a notion I shall remotely entertain!

Talking of entertainment. I see with mine eyes there has started a store wars again. Tesco have undertaken a smaller venture to tempt the planners. Eco warriors have processed their plans and have succumbed to the anti Tesco lobby to submit a challenge. And whilst they have been duelling with bits of legislative garb, Sainsburys have snuck in by the back door to announce the arrival of their very first "local" store (Just a fancy word for convenience with the built in adage at being able to legitimately inflate their prices). And who knows? Maybe Budgens will get theirs on the car park.

N Power will get a wind farm at the war memorial, London's third airport will be placed just west of Pretty Corner and the Mo will link via underground to Piccadilly Circus. After all, at times during the season, one might have thought Station Road could be renamed to that effect.

Although the traffic control in Piccadilly is a thousand times better controlled than it is here. We might as well inform highways to remove all traffic calming measures that consist of double yellows or otherwise as they are at the moment, totally un-policed and many blue badgers are just taking the proverbial. Not unlike the boy racers and post party pub leavers during the early hours as many of them parade through the streets sharing the chorus of Nelly Dean or words to that effect with the sleeping masses or not as the case may have been on numerous occasions.

Well it seems that the town this year has enjoyed a reasonable trading summer. There have been no shortage of campers visiting and perhaps many of those extra "'ow mucher's" from Leicestershire and the like have forgone their week in the Costa's for a week of sand sea and cheese pickle cobs by the North Norfolk seaside. Clearly for some, the overgenerous tracksuit bottom wearing visitor must have struggled with the lack of KFC and MacDonald outlets but must have felt quite at home with Roy Boys gut busters on the menu as a feast to behold for the gluttonously starving obese population. Never the less as we reflect on the success of the Carnival, and all those who entered into the spirit of things on that super hot afternoon. We can only hope that Sunny Sheringham slips into autumn in equally busy mode and continues to encourage the ample masses of second homeowners to keep spending their geld in the local shops. We have to encourage them to come more often than their fortnightly stay in July.

And above all hope that the demand for housing by these investors does not continue to price the indigenous young out of ever owning so much as a beach hut at the East End. And on that note Happy holidays if you are off to someplace other than the E U this autumn. And thank you for reading. So until next time take care now.  Vic
