“Brilliant Show” say the folks at Briston

The sounds of good music and peals of uncontrollable laughter from the Copeman Centre at Briston must have made locals wonder what was so funny on Friday 13th - but it was all down to top UK organist and funny man Matthew Bason doing 'his stuff' in front of a capacity audience. His music varied from Strauss to Rock'n' Roll classics, Gershwin to Westlife, all played beautifully on his Yamaha EL90 organ and Casio Privia Piano.

During the second half, he also wandered around the audience with his accordion, serenading the ladies while gently taking the mickey out of them too - "Madam, you have beautiful eyes ..... especially the blue one!" for instance!  The highlight of the evening was when we were treated to a short silent film show featuring Laurel and Hardy, while Matthew accompanied the
action on the organ - complete with all the appropriate sound effects! It was altogether a magical evening, with something for everyone - and as usual, the generosity of the happy audience benefitted the Copeman Centre to the tune of nearly £150, and they also raised over £60 for the Air Ambulance funds. Well done all of you!

The last show for 2009 is on Friday December 18th, at 7.30pm, and it will feature Briston's own Mick Leary, with his Hammond Organ, his Yamaha keyboard, and both the music and his off-beat humour will have a Christmas flavour, with some local 'news' items (watch out - they might just include YOU!) and probably a bit of a sing-song too. Tickets are just £6, under 16s get in for just £3, and we'll even do special deals for families if you smile nicely! To book your tickets, 'phone Carol now on 01263 860844. A full programme of more organ shows is planned for 2010, and full details can be viewed on the Briston Organ Shows page on www.emjaymusic.com
