Cats ProtectionAs we move forward into another year it is time to reflect what has happened during 2009 and what we have planned for 2010.
During the year we re-homed over 270 cats and kittens and at present have roughly 25 in care. Two new purpose built pens (similar to those at Stephanie's) have been installed with Irene with money donated to the branch by two companies (Eni Hewitt Limited and Petrofac) on the Bacton Gas Site. Cats and kittens have arrived in all shapes and sizes, from the 26 kittens born in care, to 15 year old Rosie, who found a new home with Justyna, one of our volunteers. Justyna not only helps to care for the cats, but is also willing to assist at our fund raising events and collections. Some cats leave a lasting impression. Cats like Rory and Lucie the two Persians who arrived in dreadful condition, Horry the very affectionate stray, who initially tested positive to FIV and Larry, another very loving stray boy who is still receiving veterinary care.

Looking to the future, it is hard to believe that
the first meeting to set up the Branch was held on June 3rd 2000, and we re-homed our
first cats in September of that year. Incredibly, since then, we have found loving new
homes for over 2100 more. We intend to celebrate this very special year and will announce
our plans in due course.
Our fosterers all give their time freely and do a wonderful job caring for the cats and often cancel their own arrangements so that people can bring in cats or come to view them. They do appreciate it when people arrive on time or let them know if they will be late. If we had a New Year's wish this would be near the top of our list.
