Spring into Action to Save LivesMarch is the official start of Spring which marks new life and the end of a long British winter. The National Blood Service (NBS) are asking people who have never given blood before to make March the month they 'spring into action' to save lives. Every day across the Anglia region around 300 units of blood are required to treat patients in need of a transfusion. Without blood donors giving blood on a regular basis, hospitals would not be able to give patients the treatment they urgently need. Each blood donation collected is broken down into its three component parts, red cells, platelets and plasma. This means each time you roll up your sleeve to donate you will be giving life to three local hospital patients. Giving blood only takes around an hour or so in total and by booking an appointment your waiting time will be reduced further. It is a very simple process so why wait? Make an appointment today to donate blood and give new life to someone in need this Spring. In most cases anyone aged 17 to 59 who weighs over 7st 12lb in good health can start saving lives by giving blood. For further information call 0845 7711 711 or log on to www.blood.co.uk. Next session: Wednesday 7 March: 1.00 - 3.30pm and 4.30 - 7.00pm. St Andrews Methodist Church Hall, Cromer Road, Sheringham THE ROYAL AIR FORCES ASSOCIATION
