Sheringham
& District Branch, The Royal British Legion
The Sheringham Branch - Royal British Legion held its May Social at the Dunstable Arms,
Cromer Road on Monday 14th May 2007 this annual event was attended by 40 plus for a
convivial chat and a few laughs with friends and Members. The laughs were considerably
added to by Keith Loades giving his solo act of native Norfolk, his highly skilled
delivery and pauses added very much to his act, and it was quite alright to take your
Maiden Aunt to.
Craig and his Staff at the Dunstable Arms supplied us with fresh high quality finger food
far more than we were able to eat. Many thanks for the organzisation of this function to
Bunty Farrow and Les Collings who carried it out with their professional expertise. Do not
forget to make a note in your diary for the Christmas Social which will be on Monday 3rd
December 2007. Tickets as usual from Bunty Farrow 01263 824267
In the meantime we will be at the Dunstable Arms every First Monday of the Month accept
August at 7.30pm. Bunty is looking for a few good friends to help with the Poppy Appeal
remember the old Chinese proverb "Many hands make light work"

THANKS TO THE LIFEBOATMEN
On Feb 14th, I met and adopted the most beautiful, gentle, ex-racing greyhound, who
absolutely loves his runs and freedom on the far west beach.
After the March storms, we walked as usual to the slipway by the life-boat shed, but were
very disappointed to find that we could not get onto the beach.
One of the planks over the walkway grill, beside the shed, had obviously come loose and
blown away.
Rocky's long legs and delicate feet could not manage the grill without injury. Niether
could he manage the pebbles. We returned on several occasions to see if the board had been
replaced.
On a Sunday morning I mentioned it to a very understanding member of the life-boat team, a
Mr Mann, I think, who was unaware of the problem, but promised to get it resolved as soon
as possible. He was as good as his word. Two days later we found that the board had been
replaced and Rocky could have his runs on the beach again.
So to all concerned at the life-boat shed for (typically) such a fast response, once the
problem had been brought to their notice, A VERY BIG THANKYOU from ROCKY and LYN

When I became the new PR/publicity person for the North Norfolk Cats
Lifeline Trust in Jan 2007, I was dismayed to find that my first priority was having to
clarify that the trust was still in existance and that Gay Rees was not lying dead.
I wish to thank @ Sheringham for the fabulous front page which will hopefully go someway
toward obviating these scurrilous rumours.
Anyone who thought Gay was dead should come along to our
Summer Fair June 2nd at St. Andrew's Methodist Hall in
Sheringham 9:30 - 12:00.
She will be, as usual, totally in charge and pleased to welcome you. Paige
