North Norfolk Photographic Society
Today (13th June) more than a dozen members of North Norfolk Photographic Society
descended upon the beautiful Old Vicarage Garden at East Ruston. The Society (until
recently known as North Norfolk Camera Club) traditionally enjoys two outside meetings
during the summer - when the regular indoor meetings do not take place.
Seldom can more flowers have been photographed within a couple of hours - though enjoyment
of tea and carrot cake came a close second in popularity! Fortunately, the weather -
although thunder-storms were forecast - was perfect with soft sunlight most of the time
being ideal for photography.

The Society has another outside meeting at the Gressenhall Museum of Norfolk Life in
July, but the next Really Important Event for the Society is the Exhibition of member's
prints to be held at The Stable Gallery, Kelling from 4th August. Following upon the great
success of last year's Exhibition, the Society is confident that visitors will enjoy the
very high quality of the members' work. Information about membership of the Society or
about any of the Society's events can be obtained from the Secretary, Judy Knights, on
01263 825418.
NNDC meeting for Tesco deferred again.
Is there anyone out there who knows why it has been put off again? I phoned the
planning department, but they were very cagey and would not actually say why, just that
'something' had to be put before 'a' committee! Surely, whether we are for or against the
proposal, the least our Council can do is tell us what is happening, it is after all OUR
town that will be affected. Maybe we should all try phoning and if anyone gets a real
answer can you let the rest of us know what it is?
Good Luck!!!!

Sheringham Evening W.I.
What have pigs got to do with botanical oil lamps? Our speaker, Richard Wright,
entertained and amused us by demonstrating how to create such beautiful lamps, whist
describing how swine fever had forced him to find an alternative line of business. We were
pleased to learn that the resolution against the closure of Community Hospitals was agreed
by a 99% vote at the National AGM at the Albert Hall. One of our members, Tricia Williams,
was congratulated on raising £125 for Macmillan Cancer relief as a result of her 9-mile
Bure Valley Walk. Two more members reported on the courses they had attended at Denman
College by way of a Lottery Grant. The competitions, 'I made it myself' showed a wide
variety of talent amongst our members and the 'Flowers of Friendship' raised funds for our
Charity, ACWW.
