Local Lady reaches 25 Years Service for BREAK!
BREAK is celebrating he hard work and dedication of staff this week - Sheringham lady,
Dorothy Morrish has been working as a Housekeeper at the same BREAK Charity centre for
over 25 years!
Dorothy began her time working at the Magpie Centre in Sheringham on 28th June
1982 when it was still a childrens home. It now accommodates up to three families as
a Family Assessment Unit, who have been referred by the Courts and Childrens
Services to assess the safety of children within their own family unit, in a safe and
contained residential setting.
Dorothy
Morrish said of her time, There have been lots of changes since I first started.
BREAK has grown enormously as an organisation; it used to be so much smaller! I work at
Magpie part time and I also worked for Mr and Mrs Davison, the founders of BREAK, in their
home. BREAK has grown but at Magpie' we have remained very close, like one big
family and it definitely doesnt feel like 25 years!!
BREAK Charity has over 350 staff members across 16 centres, retail shops and head office.
This year, there are, in fact 16 people have been working for them for over ten years,
coming from many fields including finance, care and workforce development. The Chairman of
the Board of Trustees for BREAK, Chris Armstrong, presented them with special gifts at a
ceremony at The Burlington Hotel in Sheringham in May.
Chris Armstrong said, Often, I attend staff meetings & I always leave humbled by
the skill, dedication and sheer commitment which I see all around me. I have the deepest
admiration for the really wonderful work these people do and to do it over a long
period means that those receiving these awards are not just special people, theyre
extraordinary people. Dot is one of many people who make up the core of BREAK and through
their continued work, we have achieved so much over the last 40 years, making BREAK what
it is today.
