Joan Nabarro

To all the friends of Joan we are sad to report that she passed away peacefully on October 24th, aged 84.  On moving to Sheringham in 1972, Joan will be remembered as a very kind and caring lady who quickly became involved in the community with charity organisations and home care.  With husband Nab she was also active on the local social scene as a qualified professional dance teacher and Master of Ceremonies for several local Sequence Dancing clubs during the 70's and 80's including Sheringham, Cromer, Aylesham and Norwich.  For many years they also independently organised very popular weekly dances throughout the summer for members and holidaymakers, with all profits donated to a Cromer charity which organised holidays for disadvantaged children.

Joan Nabarro

Although not renowned as being sporty, Joan was a keen bowls player in Sheringham and Cromer clubs, playing in team and league events.  Joan brought enthusiasm and her own gentle brand of humour to all she did.

She leaves 3 children, 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren who all came to love Sheringham as she did and still frequently visit the town.

Friendly Neighbours.

I would like to thank the do-gooder who reported our grandson to the police about the way he parked his car on Thursday Oct 18th, he had just come home after being on the front line in Afghanistan, he came to show us photo's and to say he was ok so he had only been with us 15 mins.

It's a pity the one who done it has got such a sad life and has nothing better to do.

Mr & Mrs L Gibbs, Morley Road.

Please would you pass this letter on to ''Readers Email'' Issue 79
Although I no longer live in Sheringham .I was born and breed there and the only children's & babies home I can think of was the Catholic Home in Cremers Drift. When it closed I do not know but I would think the Padre of St Joseph's Catholic Church would have all the records. Hope this is of some use to you .I am sorry I cannot email you as we do not have a computer. Brenda Downing.

Readers Letter

May I take this opportunity to congratulate Sheringham Town Council, together the pond designer and the construction company employed, on doing a marvellous job of reinstating the dew pond on the Common to its original condition. It now resembles the dew pond that I grew up with over 50 years ago. Furthermore it appears to be slowly filling up from underground springs.  All we need now is the return of the various livestock that were also in attendance at that time.  Once again congratulations and many thanks
