This walk programme is part of a new physical activity initiative called Fit Together which is being launched in North Norfolk. Fit Together is a countywide project developed and delivered by Lloydspharmacy and Active Norfolk to encourage increased activity and a healthier lifestyle with a particular focus on those aged 50 and over. The project is supported by Sport England, the National Sports Foundation, Norfolk Primary Care Trust and a number of the local authorities in the County. North Norfolk are the first to benefit from this programme with a walking scheme consisting of a series of volunteer-led walks across the district ranging from 1 to 4 miles in length. The walking scheme is based on a national initiative established jointly in 2000 by the Countryside Agency and British Heart Foundation which aimed to get over a million people more physically active through brisk walking.

Over the next six months the scheme will be rolled out across the county to be based around other clusters of Lloydspharmacies. Additional activities will be added including dance, keep fit and cycling- for which volunteers will also be required. Volunteers can commit as much or as little time as they wish and are greatly valued for their input and support of the scheme. Expenses are paid to volunteers and basic first aid training (2 hours) is also arranged at no charge to the volunteers.
This is an exciting and innovative project so pick up the phone and get involved! For details of the activities happening in your area or to volunteer please visit www.activenorfolk.org/fittogether.   See page 14 for Winter Walks Programme.
