ROTARY 'SCOOPS' WORLD-FAMOUS ORGANIST
Cromer and Sheringham Rotary Club have secured the services of world-
renowned organist, Carlo Curley, for a Charity Concert in Cromer. He will perform in
Cromer Parish Church in September - his only performance in Norfolk or Suffolk this year.
Organ music has gained immensely in popularity locally in recent years following a series
of Rotary Charity Concerts given by Nigel Ogden, BBC 2's 'The Organist Entertains'. The
booking of Carlo Curley is the icing on the cake. Arguably the world's foremost
concert organist, Carlo Curley studied under the famous American, Virgil Fox, and
Britain's Sir George Thalben-Ball. He made history by being the first classical organist
to perform at The White House in Washington. He has also played for the Danish Royal
Family and Princess Grace of Monaco as well as making private recordings for the Sultan of
Oman.
He is renowned for his tuneful programmes and larger than life personality, virtually
guaranteeing a full house at Cromer Parish Church. " We are absolutely delighted and
can't quite believe our good fortune", said Joe Floyd, President Elect of Cromer and
Sheringham Rotary Club. " It's rare that people of North Norfolk have a chance of
hearing such an eminent performer. It should certainly be a case of first come, first
served." More details will be announced nearer the time. |
