NORTH NORFOLK CATS LIFELINE TRUST NEWS

PAGE NATTEN

Page's sudden departure is to be regretted, but we would like to thank her for her hard work over the past year. We wish her well.

However, our planned programme of events will be virtually unchanged with the exception of the popular Clairvoyant Evenings. These were Page's particular interest, but not necessarily ours. Nothing else will be cancelled, and our Summer Fair (Saturday, 7th June 9.30 a.m. - 12 noon) is our next event. We look forward to seeing you there.

Our food-collection points in Sheringham, Cromer, Holt and Aylsham are as usual but I would be grateful if you would kindly contact me when your collection point needs to be emptied.

Many thanks for your continued support.

MANNINGTON GARDENS & COUNTRYSIDE

GARDENS

All hoping for good weather on Sundays from the beginning of May when Mannington Gardens open every week 12-5 until the end of September (and weekdays Wednesday, Thursday and Friday in June, July and August 11-5) with special events throughout the year and guided garden walks in June.

There should be Spring flowers but also an opportunity to see what the gardeners have been up to during the winter months. As well as all the usual maintenance and the huge amount of pruning needed to provide the spectacular summer roses they have been constructing a new walkway. This links the woodland walk with the modern rose garden and includes that essential of the 19th century garden resurrected for the 21st (ever since the Prince of Wales made one at High grove !) - a stump garden.

COUNTRYSIDE

In June the Countryside Warden is busy with school parties but he is taking an evening walk with a chance to see the garden and Parkland with wildlife at dusk. - June 6th. The environmental work on the estate over four decades is paying off with a wonderful diversity of flora and fauna. Don't miss the meadow orchids and hope to get a glimpse of some of the rarer species of birds and animals

THEATRE

On 13th June popular Rain or Shine Theatre return with The Winter's Tale - not we hope an indication of the weather but one of Shakespeare's less often performed but none the less entertaining plays . We have lost count of how many years Rain or Shine have been visiting us says Lady Walpole but we know we always expect a super evening!

JUNE - MONTH OF ROSES

The spectacular photographs in the Country Life article (end April) reminded us all of the beauty of the rose gardens in the summer. If you want to learn more of the background Lord Walpole and his gardeners will be leading guided walks on garden open days in June -free for paying garden visitors.
