Ah! Greetings everyone and although this column may be a little later than usual I have finally managed to scrape together the odd hour or two that is needed to pen such an article. Well as I write this we are collectively verged on the edge of the July 1st Tesco inquiry that is set to last for Twelve whole days. That's almost One for every year this debacle has raged for! Who wins? You decide! Well perhaps it won't be quite as easy as the channel four TV programme, but do you know what? It might well have been as easy as that. I mean at the very beginning how come we, the people that actually live and work here, and who have the eligibility to vote, were not given the chance to do just that as and when it became appropriate. After all there have been plenty of opportunities to have a mini local referendum especially as we have been called to poll several times over the years. But then, of course that would have been too easy! After all, the big knobs with the brass, and Government on any level, don't like the mere commoners having any sort of decision making as that might be construed as belittling their jumped up powers and exorbitant pay packets not to mention the perk gravy train! Still nothing new there though.

And moving on but still on the subject in a way I wonder just what might have been asked of us over the years if the powers that be had have had the nerve. Could you imagine the uproarious decision the town would have had if "they" had have asked us whether or not we actually wanted the chuffer crossing ploughing through Shering-Henge. Imagine the raucous profundity that may have ensued should they have given us the vote on whether or not we wanted the Police station, Cromer Road Post office, and to have the common without pond, to stay in situ. It seams to me that dictatorial values are the new liberalism, but makes for a rather unpleasant hybrid of politics as it now seems that whatever "they" throw at us, no matter how profoundly unjust, we the public just can't be bothered to take them on.

It's almost as if the people have lost all sense of pride and judgement of right and wrong. Society seems to roll over and recently to such an extent that not only do we let them slap the other cheek, but are allowing them to take unprovoked pot shots at our lesser regions as well. Both locally and nationally we are being fiscally raped by the back door in full view of the local magistrate who seems, now more powerless than ever to do anything about it.

Kids on street corners get condemned on every level without first a thought of what actually society has done for them or probably more aptly and wildly - to them: After all, the bad ones weren't born that way! I'm sorry to run on but the Prozac hasn't kicked in yet! After a weekend of excitement with Spain winning the Euro footie competition on Sunday night. Don't ask me why and sorry to all you Ottendorfers out there but sadly me thinks that there was little love lost during the competition from any British football fans that watched the games. Possibly something to do with an historical flavour I suspect? And that wasn't all that was by far the best entertainment for years to have hit the stage at the Little Theatre. Anyone who like me who went to see the Sheringham Players strut their stuff know exactly how invigoratingly funny the whole spectacle was. The comedy "Play on" was to me one that almost cost my other half a new set of under garments and truss. We laughed so much. Playing to almost full houses that the summer rep. would have been proud of. But what happened to the press coverage? With just a few lines in the local weekly that was an understatement to say the least. Cromer Pier of course gets half a tree dedicated to that bunch and what of Sheringham groups like the Savoyards, Sheringham Players etc etc. Zilch! Editorial bias One begins to think there don't we? Any ways I'd best leave you to chew on that for now. Better be off. Take cares now Vic.
