CATS PROTECTION
When someone rings us for a cat Stephanie asks lots of questions to try and identify which
cats would suit the person's lifestyle. It is more important to us to make sure the cat is
going to be happy in its new home and not just "find a home for the cat".
Although we have had lots of enquiries in the past for Octavia, up until now, no-one has
been able to "tick all the boxes". We are therefore delighted that Octavia has
finally been chosen. She will be going to a home with no young children but with several
other cats, one of which is her sister. Her new family are used to cats that were not
socialised as very young kittens and understand the need to give her lots of time to
settle. We will miss her but wish her well in her new home. Venus, a small but very
pretty, black fluffy girl has now been with us the longest. Several people have expressed
an interest in her but unfortunately, they have had other cats and Venus would probably
benefit from being the only cat.

People as often surprised when they speak to us having either bought a kitten from an
advert in a newspaper, shop window or from a neighbour to find that we do not charge for
our kittens. Obviously, to be able to continue the work that we do, we welcome a donation
when someone has a cat or kitten, but we do not have a set charge. When looking to give a
home to a cat or kitten please consider what treatment they have had before joining you.
All our feline friends have been flea'd, wormed, vaccinated and, if adult, micro chipped.
They have seen a vet and been given a clean bill of health. By buying a kitten from an
advert you are encouraging people to continue to breed them for personal gain. By getting
your new pet from a reputable charity (and there are several in this area) you are giving
an unwanted kitten a home.

If you are looking for a cat or kitten please call Stephanie on 01692 535858.
Alternatively you can visit www.northwalsham.cats.org.uk
for a description and photographs of the cats before giving her a call on the above
number. |

If an elderly relative needs care, you want the best
Everyone deserves a holiday, but if you have to care for an elderly
relative or friend, taking a break can be difficult. One solution could be a short term
respite stay at St Nicholas, a comfortable, well-appointed nursing home in St. Nicholas
Place, a quiet road with sea views just off the High Street in Sheringham
Carers will be able to relax knowing that their relative, perhaps a parent, is receiving
first class, personalised care from well trained, friendly staff in a safe and comfortable
setting. Guests can relax in a comfortable, well appointed home, enjoy the company of the
other residents, or just sit quietly in their own room.
It is policy at St Nicholas to treat everyone as an individual, so the team there will
find out in advance about your relative's preferences, including the kind of food they
like, and do their best to accommodate their normal routine. There's also a regular daily
programme of activities and entertainment for the residents to enjoy.
Says St Nicholas Manager, Tina Dawson, 'Residents settle down quickly here and their
families often comment on the warm and friendly atmosphere. But we say don't take our word
for it, come and see for yourself'.
Anyone interested in finding out more about respite or long term care at St Nicholas
should contact Tina Dawson on 01263 823764.
