CONCERT RAISES £2,800
Around £2,800 was raised from the Carlo Curley charity organ concert organised by Cromer and Sheringham Rotary Club on Thursday, September 4. The money will go to Polio Plus - Rotary Internationals main charity - to help in the final push towards the eradication of polio world-wide. The attraction of arguably the worlds leading concert organist produced a near sell-out at Cromer Parish Church. In his typically flamboyant manner, Carlo Curley thrilled an audience of over 330 with a repertoire of church, light classical and popular music, plus the occasional surprise of his own.
A video camera and large screen, focused on the organ, allowed the audience to follow Carlo Curleys hands across the keyboards and his amazing control of the stops. Equally, his natural showmanship was evident as he acted as his own link-man and at the end when he was overwhelmed with demands for his CDs. "We were very privileged to acquire the services of such a high profile artist", said Rotary President Joe Floyd. "It was a unique experience and a major factor in our best ever fund-raising activity". Submitted by: Alan Caine |
