Tesco Store Appeal is DefeatedThe traders of Sheringham took on the retail giants Tesco and won their appeal. Congratulations to them and to SCAMROD. Hopefully local traders will now invest some money into ensuring that their businesses are accessible to the Disabled people. Maybe some of them should actually try to do their shopping in a wheelchair or pushing a buggy with another toddler by the hand, then they may see for themselves why the elderley and disabled were so desperate for a decent supermarket. Now that they have time on their hands, maybe they can use their spare time and offer to take the elderley and disabled people, who are unable to get to the larger supermarkets outside of the town on fortnightly or monthly shopping trips. That would be a nice touch from the people who have denied them access to a Supermarket, and it would be no hardship, as many many of the anti-Tesco campaigners visit Morrissons on a monotonously regular basis, just check the car park for stickers. Don't hold your breath though, it is not likely to happen in this lifetime - if it does, please let us know. Indeed, as normal it will be those who fought for Tesco to come to town that will continue to take some of these people to Morrissons in Cromer, or indeed, do their shopping for them. This was a campaign led by people who have no care for the people who live in Sheringham, just the annual tourists, and their own pockets. The others were merely people who are against Tesco the company. They now all seem to be coming out in favour of the Budgens on the Car Park - this would ruin Sheringham, as there would be even less parking available, which would reduce the footfall and tourism too would suffer. I love Democracy One very old, infirm person who cannot get to a supermarket without the help of others - luckily I have good friends |
The Red Arrows: the government won't let them fly 2012The world-famous Red Arrows have been banned from appearing at the 2012 London Olympics
because they are deemed 'too British'. Organisers of the event say that the Arrows
military background might be 'offensive' to other countries taking part in the Games. The
display team have performed at more than 4000 events worldwide, but the Department of
Culture, Media and Sport have deemed the display team 'too militaristically British.' Red
Arrows pilots were said to be 'outraged', as they had hoped to put on a truly world class
display for the Games, something which had never been seen before. Being axed from a
British-based event for being 'too British' is an insult - the Arrows are a symbol of
Britain. LOST KEYSI may have lost my house and car keys at Sheringham on 4th Sept and I wonder if any one of your readers found them. Thank you for your help. George Key Tel: 01440 703 216 Email: george@key5911.fsnet.co.uk |
