North Norfolk Photographic Society

On 3rd December, North Norfolk Photographic Society (NoNoPS) welcomed back Mr Norman Laughland CPAGB to judge the club’s Portfolio Competitions.

The contest requires members each to submit 3 images on a theme of their own choice; each picture is marked individually out of 10 , and then the panel of three is marked out of 20 points.

Winner in the Prints section out of 16 excellent entries was John Cucksey with a panel of 3 superb photos of The African Darter - sometimes called the Snakebird, a water bird of tropical Africa. John scored 48 out of the possible 50 marks.

The Projected Image section - which now includes digital pictures as well as slides - attracted a total of 69 images from 23 entrants and again, the standard was very high. The best of the slides was judged to be 3 autumn shots by Roland Riddell - but the overall winner was Judy Knights with a digital panel of Venetian masques. Judy scored 49 out of 50 for her three truly beautiful photographs.

The next meeting of the Society (apart from the members’ Christmas lunch!)will be a return visit from Gordon Followes ARPS, MPAGB, EFIAP/b. Gordon spoke some months ago under the title ’Through My Eyes’ - this will be ’Through My Eyes - Part 2’ The Meeting is on Wednesday 7th January in the Loades Hall, Holt starting at 7.30 pm and visitors will be very welcome.
