CATS PROTECTION
It does not seem possible that another year has passed and we can now look back and see
how much we have achieved since the branch was set up in 2000. However, with unsettled
times ahead it is important for us to look forward rather than back. We have already seen
for ourselves, and heard from other charities,
of the difficulties people are experiencing caring for their animals.
It is therefore important to consider carefully, before offering a cat or kitten a home,
whether you will be able to care for it properly. You will need to work out how much it
will cost to feed your cat and what sort of food you are going to provide for it, as well
as what type of cat litter you may need to use, and how much this will cost. Worming
and flea treatments also need to be done on a regular basis and you will need to discuss
how often and the best products to use, with your vet. There is also the annual booster
for your cat(s) vaccination to be taken into consideration. Again, this needs to be
discussed with your vet to decide what level of cover is required. You may also wish
to consider insuring you cat in case it has an accident or is ill. There are many
products available offering various levels of cover and if you do decide to take this out
you need to make sure you understand what exactly you are being covered for.
Unfortunately, some people will find that they can no longer afford to keep their pet
and we would urge them to contact us and other charities straight away as we do all have
waiting lists of cats needing to come in and there are rarely any empty pens available. If
you are looking for a cat or kitten please call Stephanie on 01692 535858. Alternatively
you can visit www.northwalsham.cats.org.uk
for a description and photographs of the cats before giving her a call on the
above number. |
