Norfolk Farmer Hopes Farm Trails will Save His Bacon
As Jamie Oliver is about to appear on our screens investigating why British pork
production is under threat, a South Norfolk farmer has announced he is opening new trails
on his farm in order that the public can meet his happy pigs and see for themselves the
high standards of British pig farming
Stephen Wright, who produces top quality Norfolk pork and bacon is opening the farm trails
at Sycamore Farm Shop Hempnall this Easter
The trails will allow consumers to meet our pigs who are all born and reared here at
Sycamore Farm. There will also be opportunities to feed the ducks and meet the Aberdeen
Angus
The governments Food and Rural Affairs Select Committee published its investigation into
the country's pig industry this month. It reveals that as much as two thirds of imported
pig meat might have been reared in conditions banned in this country.Much of the pork and
bacon labeled as British in supermarkets has been reared outside of the UK
Its very important consumers understand that unless we support genuine Norfolk
pig farmers, many more will go out of business explains Jane Miller Director of
Produced In Norfolk. The UK is far ahead of the rest of the world with regards to
animal welfare and I believe you can taste the difference.
Jamie Saves Our Bacon will be broadcast at 21:00 Thursday 29 January, Channel 4 |
