North Norfolk Photographic Society

What a treat! North Norfolk Photographic Society welcomed member Gordon Follows ARPS MPAGB EFIAP/b, who is a well known naturalist as well as a superb photographer. His talk was entitled ’Through my Eyes - Part 2’. He gave Part 1 a year ago!

Gordon’s talk was beautifully illustrated by a host of his photographs: landscapes as well as wild life. He took members from Florida’s everglades (complete with alligators) up through Yellowstone Park and on to Alaska and (in particular) its brown bears and salmon. Then across the Atlantic to Namibia’s enormous sand dunes and central Africa‘s zebras and ‘big cats‘.

The next meeting of North Norfolk Photographic Society will be on Wednesday 21st January at Loades Hall, Holt when the club’s digital-projected and slide images in the ’Best All Rounder’ and ’Annual’ competitions will be judged by Daphne Hanson CPAGB.

New Contemporary Art Exhibition for Fakenham

A new contemporary art exhibition is to be held in the historic setting of Fakenham's 14th century Parish Church. Open to all Norfolk based emerging and established artists working in a full range of media, this vibrant and exciting exhibition will celebrate the creativity being practiced in our county.

Organised by PIN Members Keith and Debbie Osborn of Hillside Gallery & Studios, based in Fakenham, together with Fakenham Parish Church, the exhibition aims to present contemporary approaches to art with artists and makers in the county invited to submit their work for exhibition in the Church and a small area of the surrounding grounds. Work can be in any of the following media: collage, drawing, installation, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture and textiles.

Keith said: “This is an exciting new venture for the town and will begin to put Fakenham on the arts map of Norfolk. There is such vitality and creativity in our county and being able to use this stirring venue to showcase some of the best work of Norfolk’s contemporary artists and makers will make for an exhilarating exhibition”.  The closing date for submission is Friday 17 April 2009.

Langham PCC

On behalf of Langham PCC may I thank you very much indeed for advertising our Christmas events which raised money for the church's General Fund. Our Fair raised £798 and the proceeds from the 'Double Octave' concert amounted to £432.72. Graham Hoskins and his group enjoyed doing the concert so much that they would like to come again so if you missed this concert don’t miss the next one! It was a very enjoyable evening! We are very grateful to all the people involved who helped us in raising these amounts of money. Ann Sherriff 01328 830 605
