Winter protection can now be removed.
This is a good time to plant new plants, it is an ideal time to plant both evergreen and deciduous plants.
Feed and aerate the lawn and sow grass seed in bare spots.
Divide perennials, make sure that the roots do not dry out.
All plants can now be transplanted.
Prune roses, lavender, late-flowering shrubs and ivy.
Plant summer-flowering bulbs.

Simple Risotto

1 shallot or small onion, diced
1 tbsp olive oil
1 garlic clove, crushed
6 oz Arborio rice
22 fl oz veg stock
3 ½ fl oz white wine
1 ½ oz butter
Chopped basil
5 ½ oz lightly cooked asparagus spears

Lightly fry the shallot or onion in the oil until softened. Add garlic then sprinkle in the rice and stir. Pour in the stock and bring to the boil.

Cover and simmer for 15 mins. Stir in the wine, add butter and basil.

Add the asparagus tips.

Adapt by adding cooked prawns at the end of cooking and heat through.

The Rotary Club and the Inner Wheel Club of North Walsham

The Rotary Club and the Inner Wheel Club of North Walsham are holding a
‘Spring Spread’ afternoon between 12pm – 2pm on Monday 16th March 2009 at the North Walsham Community Centre, New Road, North Walsham. The ticket price of just £5 includes a three course meal with musical entertainment & a raffle. Proceeds will go to charities supported by Rotary and Inner Wheel.
