A Fresh Hand at the HELM

This meeting was the AGM and the last one for DR John Bryden, the retiring Chairman. JOHN welcomed Alastair Heath to his first meeting when 33 members were present. Members held a minute's silence because we had just heard of the sudden death of one of the club's founder members Dr Kenneth Lee.
We all enjoyed a luncheon of Grilled Pork Chop with Honey and Mustard Sauce followed by a sinful Sticky Toffee Pudding. In John's closing words he thanked all the Officers for their great support during the year which had made his Chairmanship most enjoyable. He then handed over the chain of office to the current Vice Chairman, Rohan Fennell.

Kelling Probus

Len Turner, our joint Treasurer, will give a talk at next month's meeting on Thursday 19th April entitled, It's a Funny Old World''. Have you considered joining our club? We have members who come from Mundesley and Hindringham but most members come from the Holt. Sheringham and Cromer area.

We meet on the third Thursday of each month at the Pheasant Hotel in Kelling. We gather at 12:30 for a drink and then have lunch at 1:00 pm. This is followed by a talk from an interesting speaker for 20 minutes or so and we break about 2:45ish. Members are male and have usually reached the age of 55 or so.

Our sole aim is ''Friendship'' hence it is a very friendly and chatty Club. We have a Christmas Luncheon to which we invite our ladies, we also have three or four outings during the year where wives and friends are invited. To find out further details, do give Terry Penrose a ring on 01263 588772. With many thanks and best wishes, Philip Hutchinson.

TESCO ANNOUNCES CONSULTATION ON NEW STORE PLANS

Tesco is holding a public exhibition to present the ideas it has for a foodstore in Sheringham to local people, businesses and community representatives, feedback from this consultation will help Tesco develop its plans for a planning application.  The exhibition will take place on Friday 3rd April (10am – 8pm) and Saturday 4th (10am – 3pm) at Oddfellows Hall, 4 Lifeboat Plain, Sheringham.  Members of the Tesco team will be available to explain and discuss the plans. The consultation will record people’s comments for use in shaping the plans and informing North Norfolk District Council about what people think.  Nick Gellatly of Tesco said, “We want the new Tesco store to play a really positive role in the life of Sheringham and the next step in this is to discuss the emerging plans with everyone that has an interest. I am looking forward to hearing from the community and discussing our proposals in detail.   “Whilst we have already had an encouraging response to the news of a new foodstore proposal, I hope that as many people as possible will drop in to give us their views and hear about the work we are putting into the improved plans.”  Anyone with an interest or wishing to make comments can find out more by emailing info@sheringhamtesco.co.uk.
