Sports News
This is your column for news about any sport you are interested in. |
We don't care what sport you are interested in, we want to hear from you.
Conkers, Marbles, Chess, Bowls, Swimming, Karate, Darts, Football, Rugby, we really don't
mind.
We realise that because the people of Sheringham cover the widest age range, 0 - 99 years,
the interests will be vastly different. But, just because a person is 'old' it does not
mean they would not like to try Karate and if 'young' they would not enjoy Bowls. Maybe if
you tell us about your sport or hobby it will encourage others to 'have a go'.
Do you have an outstanding player on your team, an individual who represents the County or
Country or someone who tries really hard to overcome a disability and still take part?
We would love to hear from you. |

| SKATEBOARDERS |
When someone mentions the word 'skateboarders', we tend to think of the young people who
career down the road, making lots of noise and nearly knocking people over, but not
everyone sees the good side of skateboarders. Skateboarding is in fact a sport used by
young people to learn new skills, to gain confidence in themselves and to have something
to do. One skateboarder, Andrew Bajermay, said, "Lots of people think of us as
hooligans, making lots of noise and creating a lot of hassle, but we are not what people
interpret us to be. We do it because it keeps you fit and it's a fun sport, not to
terrorise people. People are misled because of the things we do and see us as trying to
annoy them. It would be a lot better for us, and for them, if there were more places to
skate, or if the Skate Park were enlarged, as there can sometimes be 15 or more people
trying to use it at the same time. It is just too small for all of us."
Maybe it would be a good idea if the Skate Park were enlarged, as it would keep the
skateboarders off the streets and away from our homes. People should realise that there is
nothing bad about skateboarders; they are just trying to have a wider array of skills and
a good time.
