We have been given the old
photograph below by Mr Shepherd, who we would like to thank. It is of Mrs Wilton's class.
This was taken in the gardens of 'Hillcot', Abbey Road, approximately 1942-43, after the
school had been moved into private houses following a near miss in an attack on the school
or railway line in broad daylight.

| We thought that this would be an appropriate time to put in the photos below, kindly
supplied once again by Violet. |

The old school stood on this site for many years prior to being sold off for
development in 1987. It was sold on the instructions of Norfolk County Council by auction
on Friday 27 March, 1987. The Awction was held at Southlands Hotel.

| The vendors write-up described it as 'Former Primary School Buildings occupying a
valuable site of approximately 0.92 acre in the heart of the Town Centre, with planning
permission for re-development or conversion'. Looking back, maybe they should have kept it
in use! |
