The Sheringham Branch of North Norfolk Conservative Association held their AGM at
Southlands Hotel in February. The President, Geoffrey Storey, welcomed members &
speakers to the meeting. Following the business of the meeting, Carolyn Williams, retiring
Chairman of the Constituency, thanked the Branch for their support over the three years of
her office & Helen Bartram, the Agent, updated Branch members of the forthcoming
District Council elections. A lively discussion took place on a number of different
political topics & members were reminded of the Forum for Political discourse, which
takes place regularly at Louden Road Conservative Club in Cromer. A programme of events in
Sheringham has been arranged for the coming year to which all members are invited with new
members being always welcome.

The ROTARY CLUB of CROMER AND SHERINGHAM are continuing the collection of unwanted
spectacles on behalf of VISION AID OVERSEAS.
|
 |
Two North Norfolk businesses have agreed to continue to
serve as collection points, Randalls Electrical of Mount Street, Cromer and Bertram Watts
of Church Street, Sheringham. |
Rotarians will sort the unwanted specs as required by
V.A.O before forwarding them on. V.A.O. will then deliver them to selected prisons where
trained inmates determine their prescription, label and pack them before they are shipped
to Gambia, Ghana, Malawi, Swaziland or India.
V.A.O. sends out teams of volunteers to run eye clinics and dispense spectacles as
required.
Your unwanted spectacles could make a sight of difference to someone. Please help.

The 1st XI's unbeaten run ended at Norwich United Reserves
where they put in a poor performance and went down 0 - 2. The following week things
improved when they beat Wortwell from division 2 in the K.O. Cup. In a tense first half
Sheringham were hard pressed to contain their lively opponents, but in the second half
they finally broke down the Wortwell defence and ran out 2 - 0 winners. They now meet
Gayton away in the semi-final on Saturday 29th March. The reserves title ambitions were
virtually ended when they lost 1 - 2 at league leaders East Ruston, but in their next game
they comfortably beat Blakeney at home 4 - 1.
The match fixture lists have both teams playing away games for the whole month.
