SERVICE PERSONNEL |
By the time you come to read this article, we shall have
been at war for several days and lives on both sides have been lost. Whatever your
personal feelings or opinions on the War on Iraq, it is OUR Service Personnel who are on
the front line and THEY NEED YOUR SUPPORT.
They have not chosen to go, but are doing their duty, their job is to support our elected
government and carry out the orders given to them. Men and women join our military, not
necessarily to go to war, but to protect and serve us in a variety of circumstances. They
are always there when we need them, whether it be to dispose of animals as in the case of
the Foot and Mouth outbreak or to cover for strikers as in the case of the Firemen/Fuel.
They travel the world as part of the United Nations and NATO, which sounds very
glamourous, but in reality often means living in sub standard accommodation for months at
a time and completing unsavoury tasks, they see horrendous sights which stay with them for
life. They are always there for us and now it is time for us to return their loyalty.
Sons and Daughters of Sheringham are serving in the Gulf and we as a town should be proud
of them. All of us at the paper would like to say to their families, that our prayers are
with them and for the safe return of their loved ones.
To the families of these troops we would like to offer our support, there are people in
Sheringham who have been where you are now and know exactly what you are going through. If
any of you want or need support, give us a ring at the paper and we will do our best to
put you in contact with the person you need. |
