Re: St Peters Parish Hall.

Dear Editor
I have never written to a paper before, but on this issue I feel I must.

I wonder if the Vicar & The P.C.C have any idea of the sadness, hurt & anger they have caused a lot of the inhabitants of Sheringham by closing the Parish Hall. In 1953 I was one of the many people who worked hard to raise funds for this Hall, one we were very proud of & thought it was for all time. Now what happens to it, stands empty, becomes a target for vandals, deteriorates & of course will eventually be sold to a builder. They will have got their way, but at what a cost. It was the main Hall in the town & so many activities took place there. A part of the heart of Sheringham will have gone, never to be replaced. I hope they are satisfied.

Reader's Letter
Dear Editor,

I was intrigued to read in paragraph 5 of Vic's letter on page 3 of your current issue that we are only 'a few 'K' away' from the ''lifeboat museum's target for their heritage centre at Lifeboat Plain''.

Vic tells us that this comment is made after receiving some reliable information.

Please Vic, always check your facts before rushing into print because you are obviously confused about two quite separate issues.

The ''few 'k' '' you refer to are needed by the Preservation Society to fund work on the old fishermen's sheds at the top of the West Slipway and have nothing at all to do with our intention to create a new maritime and social history museum at The Mo on Lifeboat Plain.

Misleading information such as this only causes confusion and does not help the Preservation Society or ourselves in our efforts to create two complimentary attractions which will be of real benefit to the local economy.

If Vic is really interested in getting the facts, he has only to ask either a representative of the Preservation Society or myself, on behalf of the Museum Trust, and we will be pleased to help.

Peter Brooks
Vice Chairman & Curator.

(Our apologies for getting the facts wrong, the only contact I have with Vic is by email, and I will certainly give him an electronic 'message'. Editor)

I want a life changing experience so sign me up to take part in 'Fire Walk Challenge 2003'.

WE ARE ALL 'FIRE'D UP ABOUT TAKING THIS WALK!

Fed up of all the 'run of the mill' charity events? Fancy an opportunity to 'burn your boss' or step out into the unknown? Well, BREAK charity is giving you the chance to take part in one of the most exciting and exhilarating experiences of your life! Something that will give you a new confidence, belief that you can achieve your personal goals, an activity that certainly promises to amaze your friends and families - and all you have to do is walk 20'! Come and take up the challenge of 'Fire Walk 2003' on Thursday 22 May 2003 at Dereham Town Football Club, Norfolk and help raise much needed funds for BREAK Charity.

Sheringham Community Paper Rosemary Fereday, Head of Fundraising Operations said; "This is the most exciting fundraising event BREAK has ever undertaken! Each year we organise lots of fundraising events, from sky dives to sponsored walks - this is just a sponsored walk with a difference! There have been some high profile fundraising events in the press recently, but the 'Fire Walk Challenge 2003' also gives people the chance to take part in something life changing.
She continued; "Our organisation's work is based on the recognition that people who care for a loved one 24hours a day, 7days a week, not only deserve a break, but desperately need one.  The fundraising potential for our charity from this event is immense, as too is the opportunity to raise awareness of BREAK Charity. It is difficult to be heard when there so many other charitable organisations, so this eye catching event provides an excellent opportunity for us to shout about our work. "I am so excited about the fire walk that I have signed up myself (much to the enjoyment of my fundraising team!) and have also got our new Chief Executive, Mike Partner to sign up to take a walk of his life too! The public support for this event has been excellent, but there are still places left for more people to come along and join in!" This fantastic, once in a lifetime experience involves taking part in a highly motivational and confidence boosting training seminar to get participants ready to take 'the walk' across the specially prepared fire bed of hot embers - and enjoy every moment! The training does not involve any sort of 'brain washing', hypnosis or any similar methodologies and to date no one has refused to take 'the walk' when it was offered to them! The specialist fire walk organisers, 'Blaze', which stands for Big League Action Zest Excitement, have over 12 years experience of organising charity fire walks and are the market leaders for this type of event.

Their highly experienced and qualified staff co-ordinate the whole event on the evening. Their 'Fire Master' instructors have undergone a minimum of 200 fire walking events, which will put our fundraisers in the best possible hands to relax and enjoy the moment! We want as many people as possible to take part in this 'chance in a lifetime', so you can enter as an individual or make up a team of anything up to ten people - it's up to you! It is also possible for a company or group to enter more than one team to really build up the competition - get your boss involved and you can get the chance to 'burn the boss'! An event such as this requires a certain amount of sponsorship to be raised by the participants to ensure we raise the essential funds to continue our vital work. Individuals are required to raise a minimum of £200 each, teams of 3 - £600, teams of 5 - £1,000 and teams of 10 - £2000.
