NEW RELEASE FOR SHANTYMEN
The Sheringham Shantymen were formed in 1988 by a group of fishermen and lifeboat crew in Sheringham. They began life as a regular shanty crew but over the years they have developed into a full entertainment group. The Sheringham Shantymen have around thirty members and regularly turns out twenty to twenty-five for each concert. Music consists of guitars, melodeon, banjo, concertina, bouzouki, mandolin, whistles and bodhran.
Sheringham Community Paper The group makes up to fifty appearances each year but, although thoroughly professional and charging the 'commercial' rates, the members take no personal reward for their work. Each year The Sheringham Shantymen gives its 'profit' to charities,
principally to the Royal National Lifeboat Institution. So close are The Sheringham Shantymen to the RNLI that it has been awarded the honour of incorporating the RNLI logo into its badge.

The Sheringham Shantymen have recorded their fifth CD, this recording will make a major contribution to RNLI funds and will further cement the strong relations between RNLI and The Sheringham Shantymen. This popular group has since become known around the world, thanks to the hard work and many hours of practice. There are very few Thursday evenings when they cannot be found at their headquarters, the Windham Arms, enjoying their singing and possibly sampling the local beverages.

The "Mums Night Out" on 29th March was a night to remember for all involved, and raised £90 for the Ladybird Playgroup. Bob Brewster at The Crown helped to start the evening off with his generous first drink free offer, meanwhile the girls and other people in the pub tried to "Name the Baby" with unusual names like Elvino, Starsky, and Huxley. The winning name was "Icepop". Once we arrived at The Chicago Rock Café the Bar Manager escorted us to our own area which was decked with streamers and balloons. Throughout the night he returned to make sure we were all ok and if we needed anything else. By the end of the night all the girls were on the dance floor giving it all they'd got. Our return journey on the coach was a lot quieter with a few girls managing to sleep. The driver from Sanders coaches was a real gentleman and offered to get the girls as close to home on such a horrible foggy night. Many thanks to all involved, the next night out is a Pamper Night on Wed 23rd April at the Southlands Hotel. For £10 you can sample a free beautey treatment from a mini pedicure to Hypnotherapy, either a yoga, relaxation or meditation class, and of course a glass of wine, finger buffet and a chance to buy some lovely pamper products. Tickets are available in advance from The Beauty Box.
