SHERINGHAM FOOTBALL CLUB

Only the first team were in action during March but they played two important fixtures. The first away to promotion rivals Foster Athletic resulted in a 1 - 1 draw which kept the team in second place in the league. The second game against Gayton in the semi-final of the Junior League KO Cup finished 0 - 4. Having come so far in the competition it was a disappointing end to the hopes of a place in the final. Gayton, from division 2 scored early in the second half after an even first 45 minutes. This left Sheringham chasing the game for an equaliser but by pushing forward it made the defence vulnerable and Gayton took advantage of this to score three more times.

YOUR LOCAL THEATRE GROUP NEEDS YOU!

Next year, local amateur dramatic society, The Sheringham Players will be celebrating forty years of performing exciting and (hopefully!) amusing productions for an always appreciative audience. If you feel you'd have liked to participate in local drama (but were too afraid to ask) now is your chance.

The Sheringham Players would love to continue for another forty years and to do this we want to meet new (or old!) talent. If you feel you may have anything to offer: Oscar-winning stage presence, backstage skills, set construction skills, tea making skills or anything, PLEASE contact our secretary, Susan Knights on 01263 823935, or our chairman, Kees van Woerkom on 01263 838109.

We are a friendly, fun society and we always like to make new friends, so call now and come and join us?

The Sheringham Players are currently rehearsing "The Turn Of The Screw" by Ken Whitmore for performance on April 10/11/12th at the Little Theatre, so why not see one of our shows first?

The Second Sheringham Grand Sports and Fun Day 26th May 2003

The Sheringham and District Sports Association are planning to hold the second sports and fun at the Recreation Ground on Spring Bank Holiday Monday 26th May. Everyone who attended the Jubilee Day last year had a great day out and this year we hope to make the day even better. The event will run from 2pm till 6pm with all the attractions from last year and some new ones. The field sports were very successful last year and these will be repeated. This will also be a fun day for everyone, young and old, residents and visitors, attractions planned will include societies stalls, a car boot sale and competition stalls. For the children, bouncy castles, electric cars and other amusements, We are hoping to attract a celebrity to attend and open the day. We would like to invite you to support the day. We are asking busnesses, organisations and societies to help us make it a memorable day for our town. We would like more society and commercial stalls, the recreation field is a large area so there will be no limit to the number that can be accommodated. The Sports Association provides football, cricket and tennis activities for all ages and there are very strong youth football sections attracting many young people. The maintenance of the grounds are the responsibility of the Sports Association and to keep the grounds and the pavilion up to the right standard costs a great deal of money which is partly funded by events such as the sports day we are arranging. Little Theatre Lousy Chess Club

Are you a dedicated chess player who enters tournaments? Do you know who Ruy Lopez is? Do you enjoy a couple of hours silence, hunched up over a board. If so , we don't need you! The Little Theatre Lousy Chess Club is only of interest to those who enjoy a relaxed, conversational game with someone as bad as themselves. Those who like wandering around from time to time and giving usless advice on other games. Preferably over a drink. Chess is one of the few games you can enjoy even if you are awful. Providing that you are playing someone as awful as you. Sheringham Little Theatre is starting such a club, operating initially every Friday afternoon from 2pm - 5pm.

Just drop in or ring Charles Morris on 01263-838162. Each session costs just 50p. If you do not know how to play, you are welcome to come and learn. Be taught lousy chess by players with a little time or experience! Starts 10th October.
