As an ex resident of Hilbre School (1959), I was wondering if you could tell me why the
school closed down and who I could contact to obtain records kept on me whilst in care. Is
there a Children and Families unit in Sheringham or Social Services etc.? I hope you can
help. Margaret Kennedy

THE CROWN
& DORA BROOKE |
| We have had a really good response on the article about
the Crown. Mrs Vera Godfrey popped in to tell us that she thought the photograph was the
third Crown and that she and her late husband, John Godfrey were the landlord and lady
from October 1962 until October 1978 when Bob Took over. Apparently they used to hold a
New Year party every year and during one particular event there was a power cut. They had
a log fire in the lounge and candles in bottles on the tables, so they lit these while the
power was off. When the power was restored, they were asked to leave the lites off as the
candle light was being enjoyed and it was nice and cosy. Where you at that party? If so
let us know your memories of that night. Vera also remembered going to shop at Dora
Brooke's for her frocks. |
