| The Sheringham and Beeston Regis See Scout Group spent
Sunday 18th of May constructing a wonderful footbridge over a stream on Beeston Common
near the Newt Pond. |
 |
|
This was the Groups contribution to this years Sheringham
in Bloom competition. Working through the rain, the valiant band of Sea Scouts and Leaders
engineered a structure over the stream, crossing from the footpath to the Top Common,
assistance was also given by Francis Farrow, one of the Commons Volunteer Group. Using old
railway sleepers with a strong supporting handrail, benefit will be found by users of the
Common for a long time. |
The Sheringham in Bloom team would like to thank all those
who gave up their time that day. Team Leaders: Alan Daniels, Ken and Denisse Durrant.
Sea Scouts: Alex Silcock, Lora Potts, Adam Durrant, Rebecca Daniels and Jonathen

COOL
PLACE FOR TEENZ |
After years and years of grumbling by old and young alike,
the powers that be in Sheringham have finally started to get the ball rolling and provide
a teenage club on a Friday night. Hooray! Whoopee! Yeah! Calm down, calm down. Our
re-elected Councillor, Brian Hannah, has been working with Terry Howell from North Norfolk
District Council and other like minded people, together they've been able to book the top
DJ's from Time nightclub in Norwich who provide the music for the SNAP (Say No And Phone)
nights. "We want a disco at the teen and twenty youth club at the end of July after
all the exams are out of the way" announced Brian Hannah, "this way everyone can
celebrate the end of term together, and have a taste of what it's like to have somewhere
to go on a Friday."
A lot of us remember what it was like in the 80's and early 90's when the Teen & 20
was the place to be seen for High School kids. "I spent all afternoon and evening
round friends houses doing each others hair and make-up taking several outfits to try on
before deciding on what to wear and practicing our dance routines" recalled one
regular. " Kids from Cromer, Fakenham, Aylsham and Wells were there, it was packed
every Friday. At the end of the night all our parents would be in their cars outside doing
their duty as free taxi's, but at least they knew where we were!"
What we need are volunteers to make sure the night is a total success. No offence is
intended by this next remark but, we need people who the kids will relate to, not parents
or grandparents, but people young enough to know what it's currently like at the clubs in
Norwich. Please contact Lisa here at the paper if you want to make this night a success.
For all of you lot who want to buy tickets, watch this space and look out for posters for
more details.

We have had several replies from people who collect used postage stamps for charities. If
you have any and want to drop them into the office here, we will happily pass them on.
