| THE BROWNIES
PLAY CRICKET |
| 43 girls from Sheringham 1st and 2nd Brownies with their
Leaders had an introduction to the game with Sheringham Cricket club. The girls were
taught techniques in catching, bowling batting and fielding which was to be completed with
a four team game at the end. Unfortunately the rain got the better of the evening and the
game has been postponed to one of next terms brownie meeting. The evening also has had a
visit from Jenny Day sport Englands women's cricket coach, who is the ECB development
officer for women's cricket. |

|
| Jenny is encouraging girls to take up the sport which can
add a lot of attributes to developing children such as concentration,co- ordination etc.
The Cricket club are keen to develop a girls team to build on the small number of girls
who already attend coaching and saw an evening with the Brownies as good taster session
into cricket. As 'rain stopped play' the girls had an early 'tea' and finished with a sing
song! |

Toddlers at the Noahs Ark Toddler Group were in for a big surprise when a 4ft high Forever
Friends bear arrived for them to play with (or rather on)! |
|
 |
| It has been donated to the toddler group by Eric Mutton,
winner of a competition by Celebrations, Station Road. "It's the first competition
like this that I've ever entered. All I had to do was fill in my details and hand it in.
When I was told I had won this beautiful bear I had a real problem on my hands"
explained Eric. You see I've several grandchildren, so, which one should be given this
bear. I've been involved with the Baptist Church now for many years and know that the
children who attend the toddler group would really love a bear like this so it seemed like
the obvious choice." We returned the following week and the bear now has pride of
place in the room. The children frequently sit and have a cuddle with him, or read him a
book and several wee ones had to give the bear a kiss and cuddle good-bye before they went
home. All together now. Ahhhhhhh! |
| Noah's Ark Toddler Group is on a Thursday morning
from10.30 - 12.00 at the Baptist Church and costs 50p. |
