CRICKET REPORT
Sheringham travelled to Brooke in their Division 3 Alliance match and gained 23 valuable points with a three 3 wicket victory. Brooke won the toss & elected to bat first which soon proved to be the correct decision as C. Bennett (117 no) took advantage of some loose bowling. J. Reynolds (24), and R. Hainen (33) added good support as the home side finished on 234 for 6. Pick of the Sheringham bowlers were Andy McKean (3-26) and Phil Moy (1-33), who kept things tight as Sheringhams other bowlers had a day they would sooner forget. The Shannocks innings got of to a solid start with Kristian Howell & Mc,Kean (13) putting on 38 for the first wicket. Ally Graver (62) joined Howell (80) and the pair put on 116 in only 22 overs to put Sheringham in total command. A couple of quick wickets then fell and Bennett (2-31), Powell (2-38) & Spooner (2-62) along with the remainder of the home side sensed an unlikely victory. However Chaz Sizeland (32) and Olly Smith (14) steadied the ship and the visitors secured victory off the last over.

CROQUET. Bodham Croquet Club were at home to Norwich Croquet Club on Wednesday 16th July, a glorious hot day. Unfortunately, resulting road conditions (melting tarmac, loose chipping) meant that one of the visiting cars was delayed, so there was only time to play two doubles matches. Both won by the home side; on a very fast court Harry Bruford (captain) and Paul Cowing finished in style and won 26-19, while Graham Fearn and Cedric Lytton won on time 15-10. A return match at Norwich has been arranged for 27th August. Harry Bruford would welcome enquiries and new players. Phone 588122. Cedric Lytton.

READERS LETTER
Dear Editor.
I write, as I am a little confused as to what has happened to the speed limit signs on Holway and Cooper Road. I was under the impression that they stated a speed limit of 30mph due to it being a built up area with children playing etc. However, recently it appears that they have been changed to 'please drive like a prat, exceed the speed limit and, try to maim or kill one of the children living on these roads' It would seem that the moron brigade, most of whom usually spend their sad pointless little lives on the car park annoying people, have decided that Holway and Cooper Road are bloody race tracks. There is a pillock in a red fiesta who seems particularly fond of trying to kill a child, I wonder if he will still think he's a great driver when he finally succeeds in doing so. I've seen what happens to a person when they're hit by ? a ton of steel. It's not pleasant (try telling a guy that he'll be ok when he has just caved the windscreen and roof in of a car with his face). And you'd think that after those two morons in Norwich got sent down for dangerous driving after killing a pedestrian, that maybe they'd learn, apparently not. I have young children, why should these morons put them at risk? Do not they, and everyone else living around here have the right to cross the road without worrying if one of these pillocks is going to come screaming around the corner? And do we not have the right to sit in our gardens without the irritating racket that passes for music, and the revving of engines at all times of the day and night (why is it that people who know nothing about cars always do that?).

What I also find strange, is why anyone would think it cool to drive around in a knackered old Vauxhall Nova or Ford Escort, my lawn mower is more impressive, then again, with that kind of mentality I suppose it doesn't take that much to impress. What's more bizarre, is that they draw attention to themselves with their irritating noise. Sadly, words will do little to stop these children, and like children, the only thing that will stop them, is taking their little toys away. And this will only happen when they lose their licences, and a few correctly placed speed cameras would be a quick and easy way to achieve this. Correct me if I am wrong but, if you have had your licence less that two years and you obtain six points, you lose it, this would cover most of them, would it not? If they'll put cameras in a toilet like Gt Yarmouth, why not Sheringham? Personally I've been an advocate of the 'boy racer meet Mr tree at 70mph' train of thought for some time; sadly, this has yet to become law, but it will get my vote. Excuse my rant but, when you have to put up with the school run (also known as 20 ways to kill a child through bad driving and parking) outside your door twice a day, then boy racers are added into the equation, one tends to get fed up. When it eventually does happen, the moron responsible had better hope that it's not a member of my family, because losing their licence will be the least of their worries. Yours, Thoroughly Fed up with it all, and wishing something would be done about it. CJ Hall. Cooper Road, Sheringham.
