| WEA CLASSES IN
SHERINGHAM |
| A new term starts towards the end of
September, with two 10-week courses and one Day School in Sheringham. On Wednesday
mornings, in St. Joseph's Catholic Church Hall, Cromer Road, tutor Chad Goodwin will
present THE MOST FROM THE COAST. This is a study of the coastline of East Anglia, with its
pressing erosion problems. It is in a constant state of flux, and has been for centuries.
The course aims to explain the history behind the creation of the landscape that we see
today. The class runs from 10.30 a.m. to 12.00 noon, for 10 weeks, starting on 17th
September. Cost £28. On Friday afternoons, at St. Andrew's Methodist Church Hall, Cromer
Road, we shall study ROMAN BRITAIN, with well-known local archaeologist Mike Hardy. All
aspects of Roman rule will be covered, including a detailed investigation of four
centuries of occupation and what was achieved in that time. There will be a field trip,
and artefacts will be available for students to handle. The class runs from 2.30 to 4.00
p.m., for ten weeks, starting on 26th September. Cost £28. On Saturday 22nd November,
there will be a Day School on WILLIAM MORRIS, the early 20th century designer whose
influence, through the Arts & Crafts Movement, is still felt today. Tutor - Tony
Glover. This runs from 10.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m., with breaks for coffee and lunch (bring
your own lunch). Venue - St Joseph's Catholic Church Hall, Cromer Road. Cost £10.00. No
previous knowledge is required for these classes, and all are welcome. |
