Sheringham Community Paper Cook's Corner

Your fortnightly recipe to
tantalise your taste buds
Pan Fried Lamb with Redcurrant Sauce
1 tbsp olive oil
8 (75g/3oz) Lamb Cutlets
6 tbsp Lamb Stock
Green Beans and Creamy Mashed Potatoes to serve
1 red onion, peeled and cut into wedges
Leaves from 3 sprigs fresh Rosemary
4 tbsp Redcurrant Jelly

Heat the oil in a large frying pan and cook the onions over a moderate heat for 5 minutes until golden brown. Remove from pan using a slotted spoon and set aside. Season the lamb with plenty of salt and freshly ground pepper and sprinkle over the rosemary. Cook the lamb and rosemary in the pan for 4-5 minutes on each side.

Add the Redcurrant jelly and the stock to the pan and heat gently until the Redcurrant jelly dissolves and forms a smooth sauce. Return the onion to the pan and simmer for a further 2-3 minutes until the sauce is piping hot and the lamb is just cooked through. Serve with green beans and creamy mashed potatoes.

SHERINGHAM & DISTRICT PRESERVATION SOCIETY
ART EXHIBITION

The 24th Annual Art Exhibition held in the St John Ambulance Hall featured a variety of exhibits from over 50 artists, including May Ayers, Gillian Eustace and Margaret Shotton to name a few. There was such a high standard, it was very difficult to choose one to take home.
Sheringham Community Paper

Over the years, these exhibitions have raised a great deal of money, which the Preservation Society has put to excellent use by ensuring that future generations can enjoy visiting many historical places and are not lost in the name of progress.

The Charity Walk, which took place on 10th August, raised the magnificent sum of £486.50 for the restoration of the Fishing Sheds. Congratulations to those who completed the walk on the hottest day in England since records began, and many thanks to Joan Garrett and colleagues who organised it and to all who donated money. The Preservation Society has recently applied for Objective 2 (European regeneration) funding for the project. A decision is expected by the end of September and if the application is successful work on the project can start in the autumn.
