READERS LETTER |
Dear Editor, In reference to the letter in issue 21 with
regards to ''Late Night Swimmers'' written by J B Woodley D. O. S coastguard. The first
thing I would like to mention is that if the Life Guard had just shouted over the sea wall
to see if the ' Late Night Swimmers'' were all ok he would not have had to call the life
boat out, so in fact it was he himself that inconvenienced the life boat crew and other
Coast Guards!!
I would also like to state that there were only 7 people on the beach of which only 4 went
into the sea, up to our waists I might add, NOT the 15 or so you stated! Also before the
lifeboat was called, the local Police came on the beach to make sure we were all ok and
SOBER! He did not ask us to get out of the sea, but about 15 mins later he came back and
said the lifeboat had been called but at that point we were out of the sea and on our way
home! We are all Local people and know the dangers of the sea and we do ''LATE NIGHT
SWIMMING'' quite often and will carry on doing so until there is a law telling us not to.
We all have mobiles and the common sense that if any had got into trouble we would call
the lifeboat ourselves. Thank you for taking the time and reading the facts and sorry for
any inconvenience, but next time you should get your facts right before giving young
people a bad name for having a bit of fun! Name Withheld.
Why not take the plunge and do a parachute jump for Barnardo's, Sheringham's very own
Helen Cutler who can be found at Celebrations is! Imagine standing at the edge of an
aeroplane, the noise of the engines and the wind ringing in your ears with only the
outline of the distant fields below. Now imagine leaning forward out of that doorway and
letting go, falling forward into the clouds, diving down through the air as you start
falling at over 120mph. Imagine the peace and quiet as the canopy opens and the tranquil
descent from a mile up in the air. Imagine being able to do this for free and be able to
help Barnardo's at the same time. Barnardo's works with the most vulnerable children and
young people, helping them transform their lives and fulfil their potential. We are the
UK's largest children's charity, supporting 100,000 children and their families through
more than 300 projects in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales. We believe that
the lives of all children should be free from poverty, abuse and discrimination.
We use our expertise and knowledge to campaign for better care for children and to
champion the rights of every child. Barnardo's helps children, young people and their
families over the long term to overcome the most severe disadvantages, problems like
abuse, homelessness and poverty and to tackle the challenges of disability.
Helen is looking for people to sponsor her, so that she can raise as much money for
Barnardo's as possible. Why not pop into Celebrations and give her your support every
penny helps.

Is That A Windsor Knot?
Mr. Brown, Mr. White, and Mr. Red are together in an office. The three men are wearing
ties that are the colours of their last names, although no man's tie matches his name. Mr.
Brown asks the man with the white tie if he likes red, but cannot hear the answer. What is
the colour of each man's tie?
