Christmas Lights
Our town will be illuminated again at Christmas. Sheringham will be as bright this season as it was during the long hot days of Summer when we had wall to wall sunshine. Thanks go to the tradespeople of the town who have agreed to decorate and light trees on the outside of their buildings. Special thanks must go to Nicky Royle, a qualified electrician who together with members of the Sheringham Lifeboat Crew will ensure that lights will be strung across the streets. To complete the process, some members of the Carnival Committee have undertaken to organise the Switching on Ceremony. Barbara Barney and her crew will still do a tour of the town and will set up the grotto under the Town Clock. In order to maintain the Christmas Lights in Sheringham after Barbara's retirement from the procedure, a working party from Sheringham Town Council decided to step into the breach. The Council are paying to light two large trees in town plus some necessary electrical work and they have liaised with the traders to order and deliver their trees. Due to limited funds they would be grateful for any donations towards this year's costs! COMPETITION TIME - the council would like to encourage the traders to participate in one or both of the following competitions.
The best illuminations on the outside of a building. The Best Christmas Window display.
OFFICIAL SWITCH ON. This will be Saturday 29 November and as they say 'Watch this space'.
We wish you all a bright and prosperous season. Anne Webster (Councillor)

A STICKY SITUATION
Sticky Earth cafe, Cromer is unlike any ordinary cafe, it takes a second glance to realise there are paints and brushes on the tables, and plain white pottery all around the room. It is a Ceramic Cafe, so you choose any item from the large range of mugs, plates, bowls, animal characters etc, and paint to your heart's content. Once painted, each piece is completely unique and will make a perfect, personalised present. For those lacking inspiration or artistic talent there are books and magazines for reference, and the friendly staff are on hand to give you all the help you need. The average length of time spent painting is 1 1/2 hours, after which the piece is left so that it may be glazed and fired in one of the kilns. Items painted will be ready for collection in 2 to 4 days, and will be food safe and dishwasher proof. Sticky Earth's spacious, friendly, relaxed atmosphere is ideal for all the family to enjoy an activity together.
The youngest customer (only 1 day old) had footprints put onto plates, and the eldest so far (an 83 year old lady) painted a milk jug. Children's and adult parties, together with schools, youth groups and those with special needs are all welcome.
