tantalise your taste buds |
| Jamaican Pumpkin Soup |
.2lb (900g) pumpkin, 1 medium onion, 1 medium carrot
2 cloves garlic, 1oz (25g) butter 1.75 pints (1l) chicken stock, Quarter pint (150ml)
single cream, Salt & pepper to taste, Chopped Parsley, Freshly Grated Nutmeg
Using a sharp knife cut away the skin from the Pumpkin and scoop out the seeds. Chop the
flesh into 1in (25mm) chunks, peel and slice the onion and carrot, skin and crush the
garlic. Melt the butter in a large saucepan over medium heat and saute the onion for
5minutes, until it is soft and just beginning to brown, add the chopped Pumpkin, carrot
and garlic and cook for a further 5 minutes. Stir in the stock and bring to the boil.
Reduce the heat, cover and simmer for about 20minutes, stirring occasionally until the
Pumpkin is tender. Cool slightly, then puree in a liquidiser or press through a sieve.
Return to the pan and stir in the cream with salt & pepper to taste. Reheat
thoroughly, but do not allow to boil again, then sprinkle in the chopped parsley and a
good sprinkling of grated nutmeg. Serve with crusty bread. |

Pam Dennis who works at Olivia's was one of the models, her husband, John Dennis who is
Captain of Sheringham Golf Club chose the Alzheimer's Charity. |
He started raising money at the end of March and has given
himself a target of reaching £5000 by next March. Over £900 was raised by the Fashion
Show and £248 was raised in the raffle.
This brings the total so far to around £4000 for the charity. If you wish to make a
donation, please contact Pam at Olivia's. |

We are holding an Autumn Fayre on Saturday
1st November at the Masonic Lodge between 10am-1pm, raising money for a Children's Respite
Centre called Mill Close. While this centre is based in Aylsham it gives respite for many
local families including ourselves and other parents of disabled children, many of whom
receive their education at the new Woodfields School based here in Sheringham. The
building and its upkeep plus all salary costs are met by the local Council but all extras
eg; toys, sensory room equipment, videos etc are met by fundraising. We are at present
trying to fund equipment for an outside play area which will enable the children to play
safely. Mill Close provides a wonderful haven for Children with special needs. It enables
parents and carers to enjoy a welcome short-term break, knowing their children are happy
and safe. Please come and support us. We invite you to an....
