Democrats uncover Education shortfall in next years budget. |
| Local Liberal
Democrats have uncovered that Norfolk Schools face a further funding crisis next year. In
the past year the government took emergency measures to limit schools plummeting into the
red. "Even so Norfolk is 60 teachers down on last year with 12 posts being removed by
compulsory redundancy, some heads are operating on a four day week and support staff have
been laid off" commented Andrew Aalders-Dunthorne, the Lib Dem Prospective
Parliamentary candidate for Norwich South. Andrew who is also a Norwich school teacher
added, "The County School's budget will require an additional £13.5million before
inflation to balance the books and maintain a proper level of service to our
children". Central Government has announced a £5.6million grant. Which represents a
mere 0.6% increase in real terms. Andrew concluded, "My own year 7 maths group will
be able to work out for Charles Clarke that the figures just don't stack up. Schools face
even a bigger funding shortage than last year." |
When I was pregnant, my small daughter asked if you had to undo your belly button to let
the new baby out. She spent hours trying to undo her belly button to see if she had a baby
inside!
