| BROADBAND
UPDATE |
So February 11th 2004 is the day from which businesses and
individuals can get broadband via a standard BT phone line in Sheringham, Beeston Regis,
Upper Sheringham and West Beckham.
If you are interested in having broadband, there are a large number of service providers
to choose from. If you're not sure who to choose, OFTEL the independent telecommunications
regulator has just produced a report identifying the best broadband service providers
based on the number of complaints received per 1000 customers.
BT Openworld and BT Broadband have jointly earned the top position in the hall of shame
with most complaints per 1,000 customers. The findings show that you are seven times more
likely to need to complain to BT or BT Openworld about their own brand of broadband
service, compared with some of the other broadband service providers. So you have a
choice, you do not need to use BT to have the benefit of broadband
Of the top ten broadband service providers rated by OFTEL seven of them are not high
street names. However, AOL and Freeserve came out well from the report, but only sell the
consumer versions of broadband. The consumer versions are up to ten times faster than a
normal modem connection. However, the business versions of broadband are up to 40 times
faster. The full OFTEL report is on the internet at address
http://www.oftel.gov.uk/publications/consumer/comp1103.htm
The top three issues being complained about were billing problems (e.g. customer keeps
getting billed and/or harassed after cancelling service), erratic or non-existent
connections, and ignorance of complaints.
Don't let these issues put you off going to broadband, overall the service is far superior
to a standard conection. Think carefully before choosing who to use for your broadband
service, often you can get better service and advice from a smaller company as the OFTEL
report shows.
If you would like further free advice on any aspect of broadband internet provision then
Paston Chase Limited a Norwich based broadband service provider will be happy to answer
any questions you may have. They can be contacted on 01603 502061 or info@paston.co.uk. |
Here are
some more facts about the 1500s:
Most people got married in June because they took their yearly bath in May and still
smelled pretty good by June. However, they were starting to smell so brides carried a
bouquet of flowers to hide the body odour.
Hence the custom today of carrying a bouquet when getting married.
