Sheringham Community Paper
First of all I would like to thank the members of the public who have already contacted me on certain issues in the Town. Please be assured I will be in contact with them in due course. With the dark evenings comes of course dark mornings. Having decided to take the healthy option and walk to work I see various things on my way to the station. You would be surprised at the number of cars with just enough windscreen cleared to see where the driver is going but not what is coming towards them at junctions. Also the very energetic people delivering newspapers, with dark clothing and no lights on their bikes, you see it would not take Hary Potter to see what could happen next! I ask that you take an extra five minutes to clear the side windows and parents to check their children's bikes to help keep our young ones safe this winter. By the time you read this hopefully all our newsagents will have been asked to check their employees bikes to ensure the suitability for the task. The officers continue to seize alcohol from persons under the age of 18 in the Town, and I anticipate this will increase leading up to Christmas. However I don't want to spoil everybody's fun all I ask is common sense is used. A drunken person walking home in the dark is a very vulnerable target, male or female. Anyway please remember we live in a very low crime area and as such we would like to keep it this way may I take this opportunity to wish you all a safe Christmas and a Happy New Year.
