2003 - Oh What a Year |
| 2003 has been a great year in Sheringham,

to The Lobster. In July there was the 10th Annual Potty Festival which brought music and
colour to our lives. |
 |
 |
To the horror of many local people, St Peter's Church Hall
closed down. Happily it has been bought by local businessmen and Let Off Steam should be
with us in the New Year.
|
| Young Teresa Bellingham was presented with a trike in
april. Many local people have put on special events over the year to raise money for
Teresa to go to Brainwaves in Somerset. |
 |
 |
The Carnival Queen, Natasha McColl and her attendants
Chloe Green and Shelley Steed, were chosen at the Carnival Queen selection dance. Natasha
has since attended many events in town including the Star Wars Festival and Christmas
Lights. |
| Sheringham Coastguards are part of the team that won the
HM Coastguard Rescue Shield, the first time it has been awarded to Norfolk Coastguards in
its 80 year history. |
 |
 |
And of course, the Christmas Lights. Many other events
took place this year, the devastating fire at the Co-op, our lads going to Iraq and
Sheringham in Blooms excellent displays to name a few. |

Colorful Crime
Read this story. Then figure out what color hat the bank robber was wearing. But remember
one thing: one of the brothers always tells the truth, and the other always lies and we
don't know which is which.
After a bank robbery, two guys ran out of the bank. One was wearing a red baseball cap.
The other was wearing a blue baseball cap. The police didn't know which one was the
criminal. Luckily, Jake saw the robbery and could tell the police what color hat the
robber was wearing. Jake's brother Joe later told their sister, Jenny, what happened.
"Jake said the robber was wearing a red hat," he said.

CHRISTMAS STORY |
It was the night
before Christmas and not a single child nor adult was awake. The only things that stirred
were the elves as they packed all of the good children's presents into sacks and put them
into Santa's sleigh. The elves worked really hard to get things done in time for Santa to
leave. Santa was ready, all dressed up in his warm red and white suit and big black boots,
ready to face the wind and snow to deliver all the presents to children all over the
world, he prepared each reindeer in turn and got into his sleigh and flew into the night.
It wasn't until he got to the first house that he realised he didn't have his special
list. What was he going to do now?
Well all he could do was guess. And so he did, he gave every child in the world a present,
he tried his hardest to get it right, then rushed home to look for his list to try and
sort things out. He and his elves searched all night and most of the early morning. By the
time they found it, it was eleven o'clock on Christmas day!
He was a bit late, most of the children had opened their presents and it wasn't until then
that Santa realised what huge mistakes he had made. Poor James was surrounded by Powder
Puff girls and little Ellie next door was faced with Beyblade toys.
He had to fix it but he didn't know how. Then it came to him, he gathered all his elves
together and they flew through the sky to where the mixed up presents were. Some of his
elves began to sing Christmas Carols. The sound drifted through every house and as it did
the families all came to the front door to see where it was coming from.
All the families gathered around the singing elves to enjoy the carols. Meanwhile, Santa
slipped down each chimney in turn and changed all the presents around making sure
everything was in order. When the families came back in and the children saw their new
presents there were smiles all around, they glanced out of the window to see Santa's slay
filled with elves flying over the rooftops back to his grotto.
And they all had a beautiful Christmas. |
On being asked for yet another treat, I said to my seven
year old, "Do you think money rows on trees?" Her reply was a very cheeky,
"Well the paper money is made from trees!"
