READERS LETTER
I'm writing in reply to one of your reader's letters last issue No.33.  In your last issue you had a query from Alex Findlay asking for the history of a piece of pottery made by 'Sheringham Pottery'. I would be glad to help, as my family and I were 'Sheringham Pottery'. My parents Jetty & Adrian Farncombe started the pottery in Church Street in 1970. Mum, Dad and us three daughters Vanessa, Karin and myself, Ingrid, were all involved at some point. My sisters went on to do their own thing but in 1986 I became a junior partner and continued to run the business until we eventually closed in 1997/98. There was also a local young lady (a mere girl then) Barbara West, who helped out while I had my two daughters. For all of us it was always a real labour of love. In 1993 my father died and my mother no longer wished to ' pot', so my husband Kevin joined me and Vanessa ( my eldest sister) still helped out occasionally. Tragically in 1995 Vanessa died and I too lost the wish to continue potting. These two losses were points in our lives when both my mother and I felt that our hearts were no longer in the busness and therefore after much deliberation we decided to close the shop. All of our pots had stickers on the base but not many of them were signed pieces. I'm afraid the name C Miswell means nothing to me and was never anyone that worked at 'Sheringham Pottery'.I have however over the years taught many adults through evening classes, they would normally sign their work, but then it would not have had a sticker on the base.
If Alex would like to either send a photo of the piece or describe it in more detail, I would be glad to help out more.

READERS LETTER
As a parent of three children I find it both annoying, selfish and lazy that a small group of parents park on the yellow NO PARKING AREAS outside the Sheringham primary school to drop their children off and to pick them up while causing risk to many other children’s welfare and safety and just don’t seem to care.   Because of this sort of behaviour many parents and children have to cross the road while trying to avoid these inconsiderate people and their cars while they try and manoeuvre to park on the yellow NO PARKING AREAS.

I thought every person who had passed a UK driving test knew that this is a very strict no parking area at any time and even more so at the start or at the end of the day for reasons of both safety and common sense.

Certain questions I feel have to be asked:
How would these parents feel if their child’s safety was put at risk while trying to cross the road going to school because of idiotic parking?
If a child was hurt or injured in this no parking area who is likely to be held responsible?
Are these vehicles covered by motor insurance while parked illegally? And if not...
If they are hit by a school bus, car or any other vehicle who claims against who for damages?
Perhaps the local constabulary, insurance broker or illegal parking parent could answer some of the questions.

I know that the primary school in its newsletters has mentioned this problem on a couple of occasions and that the majority of parents who do use cars, park very sensibly. A few selfish and inconsiderate people once again create the problem.  I do hope that the few take time to consider others in how and where they park their cars and make the NO PARKING AREA outside the school a car free zone, as it should be.
