Iain Dale: Raise speed limits on Britain's
motorways, but Cut Limits around schools. Conservatives say 80 mph is safe and
sensible limit
Iain Dale, North Norfolk Conservative Parliamentary Spokesman has backed proposals by
Conservatives in Parliament to raise the speed limits on Britain's motorways to 80 miles
per hour. The policy is to be debated in the House of Commons as Conservative amendments
to the Traffic Management Bill.
Iain explained, "Local speed limits should reflect the danger of the road. The speed
limit can safely be raised on motorways, but in other areas such as roads near schools,
hospitals and parks, the maximum should be lowered to 20 miles per hour to protect
children from accidents.
"The limit on motorways was set decades ago when cars were less safe and when roads
were less well designed." |

Publicity for the new
network'3Pay' has been splashed across our screens for weeks and it has now been launched.
The new handsets offer several wonders of modern technology, including video, photographs,
music, etc., etc. Oh what a lovely new toy for the teenagers. My son and a few of his
friends bought such handsets in town a few weekends ago and they were all merrily playing
with the free £2.50 which was on it when bought. But then, shock horror, top ups could
not be bought in any retail outfit in Sheringham, not even the one that sold them the
phones! Never mind, let's go to their website www.three.co.uk and do it on-line. Not one
of the retail outfits listed at that time in the Norfolk area were able to sell me a top
up. Finally, my daughter in Lincoln was able to purchase it and pass the details on. I
have great news for those who now have a handset......
EDDIE MAYELL AT THE CROMER ROAD POST OFFICE has the ability to top you
up. Thank you Eddie for taking the time to sort it out, within two days I might add!!! |
