Football Club |
Clear winners of the Anglian Combination Lovewell Blake
Division Two. Sheringham FC led the table virtually all through the season. This is a
fantastic achievement for Sheringham FC, having just been promoted from Division three at
the beginning of the season.
Next season they will be playing in Division One, the first time Sheringham FC has played
in senior football since 1976. On Monday 3rd May they are also playing in not one, but TWO
cup finals, so here's hoping they get the treble. More on that next issue.
So when the new season starts later in the year, maybe you should nip up to the Sports
Ground behind Splash and support your local team, there's obviously some really good
matches being played. Yet another thing for Sheringham people to be proud of. Well Done to
all. |

Evening W.I. |
Members from eight neighbouring Institutes joined us for
our 27th Birthday Party in April. After a welcome to the visitors and the minimum of
business, Rev. Philip Hilstrop singing a selection of songs ranging from Haydn Wood to
Cole Porter entertained us. Thanks to the wonders of modern technology, Philip sang to his
own pre-recorded accompaniment on the piano, and encouraged us to join in the many
well-remembered and well-loved tunes. Supper, with contributions from all members, was
much enjoyed, as was the Birthday cake made and iced by Coral Batchelor.
A recent March Hare Supper was enjoyed by over 50 members and friends. After a
hot meal prepared and served by the Catering team, a Quiz was set and adjudicated by Neil
Batchelor- one of our staunch W.I. husbands. As a result of this event, we were able to
send a substantial donation to the EDP Breast Cancer Appeal.
Whilst our normal meeting day is the 2nd Thursday of each month, next months has
been brought forward to 3rd June, when Bet and Barbara, The Mardling
Mawthers will entertain us. This duo are well known within Norfolk W.I. for
their wry observations on everyday life in Broad Norfolk dialect, and their subject this
time is At the Chiropodist. The meeting starts at 7.30pm at St
Andrews Church Hall, and new members and visitors are welcome.
