Dear Editor,
Re: December 2003 Issue " Food for Birds in Cold Weather"
How lovely for someone to comment on looking after birds in the winter, ensuring there is
enough water and food available to help birds get through the cold winter. With all the
local Nature Reserves and RSPB areas in North Norfolk, we certainly should look after our
local "birds". How horrified and sickened I was then, when I went for a walk one
lovely day, through the Camping and Caravanning club lane in Beeston Regis, towards the
Runton woods to find in a field a "large Bird Trap" - with a bird already
trapped - in a state of shock/suffering, in the full sun!
This was very upsetting to see - how do you explain this to young children staying on the
site - walking the lanes !!!
We clearly have people that are caring for and feeding birds, to find minutes away others
trapping them for days on end, and then killing them !
